Welcome to the Delia Baker hand painted tile website!

Based in Watford, Hertfordshire, I am a practising artist specialising in painting and have
a BA (hons) in Fine Art. I have decorated tiles for over twenty years and in this time been
involved in many large scale commissions, having painted, silk screen printed and stencilled
countless murals, panels and single tiles. I am also, forgive my vanity, a master of matching
up new tiles to existing ones to save people from having to tile a whole room when new
appliances etc. leave gaps on the walls. If you can find a tile the same size, thickness
and colour I may be able to help.

Brought together here is a diverse collection of tiles showcasing the many styles, subjects
and applications I have previously produced.

Clients bring their own chosen tiles for me to decorate. My designs are then painted using
on-glaze colours which, when fired to a high temperature in the kiln, fuse with the tiles'
original glaze to produce a permanent and durable finish.

Most tiles are suitable for refiring in this way, though it is always good to check with me first
as I was once asked to create a mural on "tiles" that were actually real marble.
