miscellaneous
In
this section I have included examples of past commissioned
work as well as a few oddments
and curios, ranging from the sublime to the daunting.
The wonderfully loose fish design illustrates the transformation from the
simplest of sketches
into finished tiles. The golfers similarlarly were copied from a client's
wallpaper sample. Pet portraits
on mugs or large cups and saucers always get an amazing response from the
recipient. To have one
of these painted I need a photo of the cat or dog's face and also side views
so that I can see the tail,
legs and coat markings. Names of the owner or pet can be included.
As well as regularly working on large scale murals such as swimming pools
and motorway services,
I was once involved in the production of an underground panel for the Elephant
and Castle station.
The detail shown here is a screenprinted reproduction of a sepia photograph,
each of the tiles
measuring 10x20cm. Another large project was a set of mass produced transfer
designs including
"Rainforest" for Fired Designs. By contrast, I am often contacted
when only a few tiles are required
to match and replace damaged originals.
And finally "those cats", a handpainted reproduction of a 19th century
German illustration.
